BUBT Research Week 2026 Fosters Innovation and Honors Scholarly Excellence

The Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) has successfully concluded its dynamic Research Week 2026, held from January 25 to 29. The week-long event culminated in a prestigious award ceremony that celebrated groundbreaking research contributions from faculty and students, underscoring BUBT’s commitment to advancing knowledge and addressing national challenges. Students were awarded for their research activities, as well as for the best thesis. The successful execution of Research Week 2026 reinforces BUBT’s position as a leading private university in Bangladesh, dedicated to excellence in teaching, research, and community service through the coordinated efforts of the BUBT Research Graduate School.
The event, hailed as a major initiative by the university leadership including Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. A B M Shawkat Ali, the Board of Trustees members such as Prof. Abu Saleh, and the Deans of all faculties, was organized by the BUBT Research Graduate School (BRGS). It featured a comprehensive agenda of seminars, conferences, poster presentations, and thesis work presentations, all focused on research advancement, practical application, and nurturing the next generation of researchers. Prizes were given for 36 research works of the faculties in three categories. However, a highlight of the awards ceremony was the special recognition of Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mahboob Ali, Professor of the Department of Economics, BUBT. He received the Research Award for the Year 2025 for two significant papers published in The Journal of Social, Political and Economic Studies:
“The Impact of Micro Banking Expansion on Macroeconomic Outcomes: A Time series and PLS-SEM Analysis of Unemployment, and Poverty in Bangladesh.” DOI: https://doi.org/10.65767/0278-839X.2025.50.17 This study uses advanced econometric models to critically assess the role of microfinance in national economic indicators.
“Leveraging Heritage and Infrastructure for Sustainable Tourism Development: An Integrated Analysis of Archaeological Assets, Khadi Fabrics, and Aviation Connectivity in Cumilla, Bangladesh.” DOI: https://doi.org/10.65767/0278-839X.2025.50.11)*. This interdisciplinary research presents an innovative framework for sustainable regional development through tourism.
Adding to the Department of Economics’ acclaim, Dr. Muhammad Aminur Rahaman, the Dean of BRGS, was also honored with a Research Award for his scholarly work. The awards were ceremonially conferred by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. A B M Shawkat Ali and Dean Dr. Rahaman, who commended the high quality and societal relevance of the research.
Research Week 2026 served as a vibrant, university-wide platform. Beyond faculty accolades, numerous graduate students, thesis researchers, and faculty from various disciplines received awards and certificates for their innovative projects and presentations. The event fostered an environment of intellectual exchange and collaborative spirit across all fields of study.
In his closing address, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. A B M Shawkat Ali stated, “Research Week exemplifies our core mission to create knowledge that serves society. The diverse works presented and Dean Aminur Rahaman, directly engage with real-world challenges and contribute meaningfully to national policy discourse.
