US Assistant Secretary and Bangla learners meet Ambassador Akramul Qader

USA NEWS : A group of USuniversity students currently studying Bangla met with Ambassador Akramul Qader, the Bangladesh Ambassador to the USA. US Assistant Secretary of State for the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs Ms. Ann Stock also attended the meeting.

The students will soon leave for Bangladeshto study Bangla over the summer semester. While greeting the students Ambassador Qader stated that the USstudents can immensely contribute to fostering cultural ties between the two friendly countries. He also thanked the US State Department for the training opportunities to teacher leaders from Bangladeshin the USA under its International Leaders in Education Program (ILEP).

Assistant Secretary of State Ms. Ann Stock in her remarks pointed out that increased people-to-people connectivity has been contributing to flourishing Bangladesh-US relations. Terming the students as the true ambassadors of America’s cultural diversity, Ms Stock advised them to take full advantage of the scholarship program and learn Bangla that also possesses a rich literature. President of the American Institute of Bangladesh Studies (AIBS)  Professor Shelley Feldman also spoke on the occasion.
