LDCs need fairer global financial architecture to achieve SDGs: PM’s Adviser Dr. Titumir

USANewsOnline.Com Desk, New York, 13 July 2026: Adviser for Finance and Planning to the Prime Minister of Bangladesh Dr. Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir has called for significantly increased concessional financing, reform of the international financial architecture, accessible climate finance, expanded market access and stronger technology cooperation to accelerate sustainable development in the world’s Least Developed Countries (LDCs).
Delivering a statement on behalf of the behalf of the Group of LDCs during the General Debate of the High-Level Segment of the ECOSOC at the United Nations Headquarters, Dr. Titumir said mounting debt vulnerabilities, climate change, declining official development assistance, widening digital divides and limited access to affordable finance continue to undermine implementation of sustainable development goals. He urged the international community to strengthen support through predictable financing, equitable debt solutions, enhanced climate action, development-friendly trade rules and greater technology transfer.
Reaffirming the LDC Group’s commitment to the implementation of 2030 Agenda and the Doha Programme of Action, Dr. Titumir stressed that with fewer than five years remaining to achieve the sustainable development goals, urgent and coordinated global action is needed to address the structural constraints confronting LDCs.
