Dr Dipu Moni called for the establishment of an open, rule-based, equitable international trade regime

New York, Foreign Minister Dr. Dipu Moni, MP called for the establishment of an open, rule-based, equitable international trade regime, with greater market access for the products of the developing countries. She was addressing the thirty-fourth Annual Meeting of the Ministers for Foreign Affairs of the Group of 77 and China on ‘Exchange of views and interactive dialogue on issues of importance to the Group of 77 to be considered during the sixty-fifth session of the UNGA’ this morning in the UN-HQ. She demanded that  the decision making process of the international financial institutions must be democratized, allowing for greater policy space for the developing countries in formulating their own development strategies. 

Given the vulnerability of our health sectors and importance of making medicines available at affordable prices Dr Dipu Moni demanded to allow LDCs such as Bangladesh to export to Developed markets.

She also called for quota-free and duty free access to all products of all LDCs to their export destinations
