BACONA Declares Free Classes for 1 Adult and 2 Students from Bound for Success
NEW YORK: On Sunday May 15th at 7:00 pm, an event was organized by Time TV and Bangladeshi American Friendship Society in Church Avenue, Brooklyn. Hosted by Ruma and Bulbul Hassan, the event was to celebrate Boishakhi and consisted of performances and speeches given by numerous community leaders and city officials. President Kazi Azam invited the two community leaders and founders of BACONA (Bangladeshi American Center of North America) and Bound for Success, Moinul Alam (Bappy) and Mohammed Mahab, to say a few words about the mission of this not-for-profit organization. Onstage, BACONA and Bound for Success made an announcement offering free tutoring for 1 adult (ESL) and 2 children (K-6 tutoring). They are located at 415 Beverley Road, Brooklyn NY 11218 (on the corner of East 5th St). In the future, both organizations hope to work with the community, especially with newly arrived immigrants, in order to move forward.
