Bangladesh Stall at the International Food Festival in New York draws huge crowd

UsaNewsOnline.Com, New York : The Consulate General of Bangladesh in New York participated in the International Food Festival organized by the Society for Foreign Consuls (SOFC), New York from 6-8pm on Friday, 09 February, 2017. The Consulate General of India hosted the event at its auditorium and few hundred foreign guests were in attendance despite inclement weather.Bangladesh Consulate General put up a stall showcasing various traditional finger food (Samocha, Singara and Pakora). Bangladesh Stall, decorated with traditional Bangladeshi articles and handicrafts, drew huge number of foreign guests. All of them deeply appreciated the unique taste and flavor of the Bangladeshi finger food.Mr. Md. Shameem Ahsan,ndc, Consul General, Mrs. Pandora Chowdhury, wife of the Consul General and other Officials were present, among others. In addition to the food stall, there was a stellar performance by the local artists of BAFA (Bangladesh Academy of Fine Arts) which earned deep appreciation. The artists performed a dance themed on a popular folk song from Bangladesh. Artists from a good number of countries also performed at the cultural segment which added beauty to the event. Colorful flags from all participating countries and dresses & costumes representing various cultures and traditions created a multicolor and multilingual environment. Participation of the Consulate General afforded an opportunity to promote and project the traditional food and rich culture of Bangladesh among the wider US audience which included US officials, diplomats and members of the civil society including mainstream media, among others.
