UsaNewsOnline.Com Desk, Michigan : The Alliance of South Asian American Labor (ASAAL) opened, Michigan Chapter on Sunday, August 27, 2017 at 11459 Conant Street, Hamtramck, MI 48212 with much joy and enthusiasm from the State of Michigan’s City of Detroit, Sterling Heights, Dearborn, Warren, Madison Heights, Center Line, Troy, Birmingham, and Hamtramck! South Asians especially Bangladeshi and Yemeni in Michigan are very active in politics, they are scattered and there are many groups among the immigrants. There are Pakistani and Indians has a great deal of community engagement. Everybody felt that an organization like ASAAL can bring everyone under one banner and can lead all to empower our community.

Maf Misbah Uddin the National President and Founder of ASAAL delivered the key note speech. In his speech he said, “Michigan is well ahead of the rest of the South Asian Community in America! We are not here to be your leaders, we are here to make you the best leader possible. You are already making history, God willing, on November 7 by electing Mohammed Kamrul Hassan the next Mayor of Hamtramck along with electing 3 council member, 2 of whom are of Bangladeshi origin!” “This is called progress, ASAAL wants to make that to happen in every States in America; with Michigan’s help we will just do that,” he added.ASAAL Michigan Chapter was formed with the following 35 Committee Members as the Executive Board:President – Md.
