The Alliance of South Asian American Labor-ASAAL Bronx Chapter Inauguration

UsaNewsOnline.Com, New York : The Alliance of South Asian American Labor (ASAAL), Bronx Chapter Executive Board for the year 2017-2018 were inaugurated today, Saturday, September 30, 2017 at Khan’s Tutorial, 2113 Starling Avenue, Bronx, NY 10462. Over 100 Bronxite gathered in this occasion flocked by National President Maf Misbah Uddin, Secretary Karim Chowdhury, Women’s Committee Chair Sahana Begum, Queens Chapter President Professor Monirul Islam, Vice President Monjur Sheikh. Bronx Chapter Secretary Muzammel Hossain Murad’s daughter Mehreen Khanam lead us on the “pledge of the legion”.We were joined by the State Assemblyman Luis Sepulveda as main speaker and Voter Assistance Commission member Mazeda Uddin as Special guest speaker. In his keynote speech , he emphasized on the important work ASAAL is doing in the South Asian community while building coalition among communities. He then said, “most of his elected friends are in Puerto Rico and he is also on his way there. We are requesting you to participate in any way you can by contributing all the organization that are helping 3.5 million American Puerto Rican’s.”

The National President Maf Misbah Uddin conducted the Oath of the office of the following 73 members Brooklyn Chapter Executive Committee:

In his brief remarks, ASAAL founder and National President said, if we don’t do it for us, nobody is going to do. “We can no longer think and be contained with our own success, we must strive for others to be successful in their life!” “it is not how famous we are in our life, it is how well our community is recognized by America”, he added.

“ASAAL is the bridge between our community and the mainstream politics”, said ASAAL National Secretary Karim Chowdhury. “We request everyone to join ASAAL if you like to be part of American politics”, he added.

Newly elected President Syed Tahmidul Haque said, “I have seen many organization and groups claimed represents us but no one comes close to ASAAL. It is the only organization in America that South Asians be part of, I’m honored that I was involved since it’s inception.”
