UsaNewsOnline.Com, New York : Maf Misbah Uddin has been elected to a seventh straight three-year term as President of Local 1407 – New York City Accountants, Statisticians, and Actuaries. The vote count was Maf Misbah Uddin: 588 Yosry Aly: 159. President Uddin was extremely grateful for the result and issued the following statement:

“I am greatly honored and deeply humbled by the resounding victory that the magnificent members of Local 1407 have given me today. I, along with my staff, have worked very hard over the years to insure that the rights of the members are protected, their grievances are quickly processed and their benefits are guaranteed.

My opponent was tenacious running in 2003, 2012, and once again in 2018. But our campaign did not give up.   Indeed we fought back even harder to attain this wonderful victory. To me working in the labor movement is not merely a job it is a calling and a great responsibility. I place my heart and soul in this work 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. It is my passion, joy and the reason I get up each and every morning. The great members of Local 1407 inspire me, motivate me, educate me and guide me.

There is no doubt that there are many challenges ahead of us. First and foremost, to negotiate a good contract with a favorable wage increase and at the same time protect our precious, hard won benefits. Unfortunately, we have a President who is hostile to the labor movement and who seeks to hurt the average working man and woman in every way he can. But the union will not let that happen. The road ahead of us is difficult but all challenges can be surmounted. We will work together, break bread together and win together. And with God’s help all good things are possible. Of that there is no doubt.

We want you to know that we will represent each and every one of you, whether you voted or not, whether you supported us or not, and whether you’re active in the union or not. It does not matter. You are a dues paying member and we will do our best to represent you in the best way possible.

I deeply thank each and every member for bestowing upon me, once again, the honor of being your President. I look forward to working with you and assisting you to make your work experience at the City of New York a pleasurable, rewarding and fulfilling one.”

Also for Delegate to DC 37 the following individuals were elected: Jed Matalon, Marilyn A.
