BRONX BOROUGH PRESIDENT DIAZ RAISES ALBANIAN FLAG FOR 106th ALBANIAN INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION

UsaNewsOnline.Com Desk, New York : Today, Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. hosted the borough’s official celebration of Albanian culture and heritage in recognition of the 106^thAnniversary of Albania’s Independence.

The event was highlighted by the first-ever ceremonial raising of the Albanian flag at The Bronx County Building.

“The Albanian community has always had a strong connection to The Bronx and to my office. I am proud to showcase our decades of partnership and support through today’s event and ceremonial flag raising,” said Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. “I will continue to work closely with the Albanian community as we work together to make The Bronx and all of New York City an even better place to live, work and raise a family.”

During the event, Borough President Diaz honored two individuals—Hajdin Alijaj and Mimoza Dajci—for their contributions to the civic life of The Bronx. In addition two awards were posthumously accepted by the families and friends of Ali Hadri and Idriz Seferi, both of whom are considered heroes in Albania.

In addition, New York State Lieutenant Governor Kathy Hochul presented a proclamation from Governor Andrew Cuomo at the event, declaring the day an official celebration of Albania’s independence in New York State.

The event was co-sponsored by the Albanian-American Society Foundation, the Sons and Daughters of Albania in America and the Albanian Community Center.
