Fagun Hawaay – Tauqir Ahmed’s yet another beautiful creation screened in Maryland on 31st March

UsaNewsOnline.Com Desk : Renowned Realtor Din Khaled and Sultana Mahmoud in Maryland hosted the only screening of the new, widely celebrated film Fagun Haway (in spring breeze) at Hoyts WN Cinemas 14, 1591 West Nursery Road, Linthicum Heights, MD 21090 on March 31, 2019 from 5:00 PM.

This screening was the only one in Virginia, Maryland and D.C. area and it was full sold out event. People visited the Hoyts Cinemas could see how the film is faring among the Bangladeshi diaspora community. The film viewers were from all age group with a lot of young professionals and university students who came to the Hoyts Cinemas along with their friends from distant places. The traditional Bengali food serving at the event gave a new dimension to the film show. Realtor Din Khaled, the main organizer of the event, said that the response to Fagun Haway has been excellent so far. After the release of the film news in the local community, I am getting a lot of phone calls to bring more films in the future. We are happy to announce that, we are going to bring the Bengali film ‘Jodi Ekdin’ on the April 28 in Maryland, D.C. area.

Din also informed that since it is not intended to any commercial purpose, a good portion of the ticket money will go to Agami Foundation, a U.S. based non-profit charitable organization dedicated to promoting basic education for the underprivileged children in Bangladesh. Fagun Haway film has brought in a huge audience for them. The film is about the language movement during 1952 in East Pakistan. Fagun Hawaay is the 6th Directorial of Tauqir Ahmed. All his previous 5 movies have been appreciated highly by the audience. So, audience obviously had some high expectations from Fagun Hawaay. “And it truly lived up to the expectations”, said Progga Ahmed, who works at the Embassy of Bangladesh in Washington D.C. Set in 1952, the movie describes the situation of Bangladesh back then. The story revolves around a village named “Chandrapur” & it’s people. It shows how Pakistan tried to impose Urdu on the Bangladeshis. A Pakistani officer who joins overseeing the village, Forces everyone to learn Urdu & talk in Urdu. Even he can’t bear a bird singing in Bangla. He wants the bird to learn Urdu & forces it to learn Urdu. However, Nasir & his team who perform Theatre Plays, can’t be controlled by the Officer. They raise their voices & stands for their rights. This way the story moves forward. The film also beautifully portrays the love story of Nasir & Dipti. Another organizer of the film, Sultana Mahmoud conveyed her thanks to the attendees. She said, it was a full house and a successful event. We are really touched that many people responded in a short time have come from different parts of West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland and D.C. area and traveled a long way to watch this film. The ticket for the film was reasonable and also available online and in local stores. Sultana added that, this was first time, so there had been success and learning points too.
