UsaNewsOnline.Com, New York : The Alliance of South Asian American Labor Queens Chapter installed their Officers and Executive Committee for the year 2019-2020 on Saturday, May 25, 2019 at Kabab

King, 73-01 37th Road, Jackson Heights, NY 11372. The event was followed by Iftar feast, breaking the day of fasting after delivering a sermon and Dua’a by Peerjada Sarsina Sahab Shah Md. Saifullah Siddique.

The oath of the office was conducted by Queens Borough President Hon. Melinda Katz who is also running for the District Attorney of the Queens County. She said, “she is honored to be present among ASAAL today, she is very proud for receiving ASAAL endorsement in 2013 when she ran for the Queens Borough President and thankful for endorsing her now in DA race. I’m impressed with ASAAL consistent Leadership in representing the community, and promised to work together to solve problems that the South ASIAN Community faces.

”Also present Assemblywoman Alicia Hyndman, assemblywoman Catalina Cruz, Esq., Council Member Donovan Richards, QUeens DA candidate Mina Malik, from ASAAL’s National Committee President Maf Misbah Uddin, Secretary Mohammed Karim Chowdhury, Women’s Committee Chair Sahana Begum, Corresponding Secretary Jed Matalon, and Organizing Director Omar Faruque Khasru.

Assemblywoman Alicia Hyndman said, “ASAAL became one of the best organization as it has 10 Chapters in different States and a Chapter in Albany where I was present at their last installation ceremony. This grass root work is hard but ASAAL is doing it everyday, they are making the difference in our lives, I don’t miss an ASAAL event and am proud to be working with ASAAL.

”Assemblywoman Catalina Cruz said, “I’m an Assemblywoman today because of your leader Maf Uddin and ASAAL. I have started with ASAAL and I will be always with ASAAL, together we will improve our community.

”Council Member Donovan Richards who is also running for Queens Borough President said, “I’m here to say, I appreciate all you do for the community. You are the right organization, I agree with you your are paying taxes and you must have representation. Power is not shared, it has to be taken. Your movement will do just that, share the power, and I will be with you all the way,
”Queens DA candidate Mina Malik said, “I’m here because I belong here. My father came from South Asia to fulfill his dream as a daughter I’m that dream, with your help I want to become the next Queens DA. With or without some of your support I will be always with you and ASAAL and I’m proud of you.

”National President Maf Misbah Uddin said, “I’m very thankful fir everyone coming here today. And very appreciative of our Queens Chapter team who worked hard everyday to represent our community. Their volunteerism is unparalleled to none, they are unique they produce election results and helps our community in any way they can. I wish them best of luck for next two years”.

National Secretary Karim Chowdhury said, “Organizing is the most difficult job, no one can do it alone. Without the chapter like Queens we would not have achieved that we did. We wish them a successful next two years.
