QBP RICHARDS ON DEATH OF NYCHA SOUTH JAMAICA HOUSES RESIDENT AND UNACCEPTABLE INTERAGENCY RESPONSE

Usanewsonline.com desk: Queens Borough President Donovan Richards Jr. stated the following in response to this week’s PIX11 article on the 2020 death of NYCHA South Jamaica Houses resident Marilyn McMichael and alleged actions taken by NYCHA and NYPD in relation to her being reported missing.

“Marilyn McMichael should have been laid to rest with honor and dignity following her passing, with her family provided the opportunity to properly mourn the loss of a loved one. But if this reporting is accurate, our city has once again spectacularly failed to afford a public housing resident the basic human decency they deserved — both in life and in death,” said Borough President RICHARDS. “I demand an immediate NYC Department of Investigation inquiry into NYCHA and NYPD’s unacceptable alleged actions following Marilyn being reported missing earlier this year, compelling the creation of proper interagency reporting and response procedures to prevent another family from enduring the unimaginable grief that Marilyn’s family has senselessly been forced to endure.”
