ASAAL New Jersey Chapter staged largest phone banking for NJ Governor and Atlantic City Mayor

UsaNewsOnline.Com, New Jersey : The Alliance of South Asian American Labor (ASAAL) New Jersey Chapter met on Monday, October 30, 2017 at Mr. Steak Restaurant, 1732 Atlantic Avenue, Atlantic City, New Jersey. It was presided by ASAAL NJ Board of Trustees Chair Jahangir Kabir where Chapter President Farook Hossain was the Master of Ceremony. ASAAL National President Maf Misbah Uddin, Secretary Karim Chowdhury, and Corresponding Secretary  Jed Matalon were present for this historical event where all endorsed candidates were present. Before the meeting ASAAL New Jersey  Chapter participated in a mega Telephone Banking with over 30 people participating from 3 pm to 7 pm. They made calls to South Asian voters across the City of Atlantic City and its nearby cities requesting voters to VOTE ASAAL endorsed candidates from NJ Governor Phil Murphy, whom we originally endorsed on April 12, 2017 at Atlantic City before the NJ primary election on June 6, 2017. We then endorsed Colin Bell for State Senate, Vince Mazzeo for Assemblyman,
John Armato for Assemblyman, Eric Scheffler for County Sheriff, Caren Fitzpatrick for Freeholder at-Large, Thelma Witherspoon for Freeholder at-Large, and Frank Gilliam for Mayor of the City of Atlantic City.Hundreds of South Asians across City of Atlantic City gathered to hear from the ASAAL Local, National leaders and political candidates. Those who spoke were ASAAL NJ Chapter Secretary Chhitubhai Patel, 2nd Executive Vice President Tariq Mehmood, Vice President Abdur Rafiq, Trustee Emtiaj Hussain Litu, Immigration Director Mohammed Akbar Hussain, Executive Director Maharshi Patel, Ytit Chauhan, NJ State Investigator, and President Farook Hossain who said, “I really appreciate our community members for getting involved in this year Election, we definitely will gain a lot when this election will be over on November 7”.

All candidates those who present were spoke. Senator Collin Bell and both Assembly candidates were highly appreciative of our community. Atlantic City Mayor Frank Gilliam in his speech said, “I have special hearts for South Asians, specially for Bangladeshis, you have been very kind to me, I plan to return that kindness to you, if I’m your Mayor”. “Farook and ASAAL is my partner and that partnership will continue long after November 7”, he added.In his remarks, national President Maf Misbah Uddin said, “there is 5 million South Asians in America and we virtually can make a difference in any election in America and definitely here in Atlantic City we will decide who will be the next Mayor of this great City, City of Atlantic City, all we have do is vote, please vote Column A on November 7.”

The NJ Chapter then treated every one with delicious dinner and at 9 pm meeting was brought to close by the Chapter President Farook Hossain with a closing remarks.
