Beginning of a New Era: Biman Bangladesh Airlines receives the newly purchased aircrafts from Boeing

USA NEWS: Biman Bangladesh Airlines today received the first of the ten aircrafts procured from Boeing at a ceremony in Seattle, USA. Bangladesh Ambassador to USA and State Minister Akramul Qader entered the newly purchased 777-300 ER aircraft by cutting ribbons.

Earlier, Air Marshall (Rtd) Jamal Uddin Ahmed, Chairman of Biman and Air Commodore Mohammad Zakiul Islam, Managing Director & CEO of Biman signed the handing over document on behalf Bangladesh side while the Boeing officials signed on behalf of their company. This is the first of the two in the first installment of the total ten aircrafts procured by Bangladesh from the Boeing company. The second aircraft of the first installment will be handed over to Bangladesh side on November 21, 2011.

This is the first new aircraft bought by Bangladesh in the last 40 year history of Biman and is seen as the beginning of a new era. The aircraft is leaving Seattle for Dhaka tonight. Among others as many as 30 Bangladesh origin engineers working at Boeing were present on the occasion. The handing over ceremony marks the fulfillment of the commitment of the present government of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to modernize the Biman.
