USANewsOnline.Com Desk, New York : On Tuesday, August 6th from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Bronx Borough President Vanessa L. Gibson, canvassed the county in celebration of National Night Out Against Crime visiting New York City Police Department Precincts from Mott Haven and Melrose to Kingsbridge, Wakefield and other areas. Among the Precincts and Public Service Areas visited were the 40th Precinct on Brook Avenue between 137th Street and 138th Street, the 41st Precinct on Dawson Street between Intervale and Longwood Avenues, the 48th Precinct on Prospect Avenue between East 179th and 180th Streets, and Public Service Area 7 on Jackson Avenue between East 147th and East 149th Streets.
The 47th Precinct located on Grenada Place between Ely and Laconia Avenues hosted their event at the Eastwood Manor where Borough President Gibson thanked NYPD Commissioner Edward Caban, and Commanding Officer of the 47th Precinct, Deputy Inspector Jonathan P. Korabel for their collaborative work with community residents in fighting crime and keeping streets safe.
Held annually across the United States on the first Tuesday of August except for in Texas where it is held on the first Tuesday in October, National Night Out was created to enhance police community relations by bringing communities together under positive circumstances. The evenings often will feature a block party, cookout, and various other community events.
