Consulate General of Bangladesh in New York welcomes Bangla New Year 1423

UsaNewsOnline.Com, New York : The Consulate General of Bangladesh in New York celebrated Bangla New Year-1423 on 30 April, 2016 at the Chancery amid melodious music, spectacular dance and recitation depicting rich Bengali culture and heritage.

Mr. Md. Shameem Ahsan, ndc, Consul General exchanged new year’s greetings with the guests. In his welcome remarks, he expressed his hope that the new year would bring in renewed happiness and prosperity in the lives of all Bangladesh nationals living in the country and abroad.

Mr. Amir Hossain Amu, M.P, Minister, Ministry of Industries, Government of Bangladesh was present as the Chief Guest. In his remarks, he touched on the secular fabric of the society and urged all Bangladeshis specially the expatriate nationals to remain alert against extremism and communalism in the name of religion.
The discussion session was followed by a colorful cultural function. The Consulate and Permanent Mission families and members of the Diaspora based in New York took part which was well-received. The rendering of songs by the noted singer, Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra and recipient of Ekushey Padak Mr. Kaderi Kibria enthralled the audience.

A large number of Bangladeshi nationals including members of various socio-cultural organizations and foreign guests were present at the event.

The guests were served with traditional Bangladeshi cuisine.
