Councilman Gennaro Announces Bangladeshi Independence Celebration At Borough Hall
FRESH MEADOWS, NY (April 1 2011) � Councilman James F. Gennaro (D-Fresh Meadows) announced that he would once again host a Bangladeshi Independence Celebration at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 7 at Queens Borough Hall. Bangladeshi Independence Day is March 26. The day commemorates the start of Bangladesh Liberation War in 1971.
The Bangladeshi community will honor prominent members of their community and partake in national and cultural celebrations. “It is a great pleasure and honor representing the Bangladeshi community, one of the fastest-growing immigrant groups in New York,” Councilman Gennaro said. “The passion and pride of Bangladeshi New Yorkers are key ingredients in the unique flavor of our neighborhoods.”The Bangladeshi community will honor members of their communities and partake in national and cultural celebrations.
