Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin has been elected as the member of International Civil Service Commission
UsaNewsOnline.Com Desk, New York, 4 November : Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin, former Governor of Bangladesh Bank, has been elected as the member of the International Civil Service Commission (ISCS) for a term of 4 years starting from 1 January,2017. Dr. Farashuddin has been elected unanimously at an election held today at the United Nations.
International Civil Service Commission, one of the most important subsidiary body of the General Assembly, is responsible for the regulation and coordination of the staff conditions of service within the UN, the specialized agencies and other international organizations that participate in the UN common system and accept the Commission’s Statute. The Commission comprises 15 independent experts.
Dr. Farashuddin had the privilege of working as the Private Secretary to the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman as the Prime Minister and President during 1973 – 75. Dr. Farashuddin, a renowned scholar and founder Vice Chancellor of East West University, has a wealth of experience in working at the national level as well as the international arena.
The election of Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin as the member of the International Civil Service Commission (ICSC) would reinforce Bangladesh’s engagement in the multilateral arena. Press Release
