Foreign Secretary Shahidul Haque Meets USTR official in Washington, D.C.

UsaNewsOnline.Com, Washington, D.C. : Foreign Secretary Shahidul Haque Wednesday met with Assistant United States Trade Representative (A/USTR) for South and Central Asian Affairs Mark Linscott Wednesday, the second day of his two-day visit to Washington, D.C. During the meeting held in the Office of the USTR, they discussed the possibility of making the platform of Trade and Investment Cooperation Forum Agreement (TICFA) more effective. Foreign Secretary Haque referred to the removal of special paragraph on Bangladesh by ILO in the recently held meeting of its Committee of Experts for Application of Standards (CAS) in Geneva in recognition and appreciation of the significant progress made by Bangladesh, and expressed hope that the U.S. would also appreciate the same and extend duty-free quota-free access to Bangladeshi products to the U.S. market. Foreign Secretary Haque had also a courtesy meeting with Ms. Kristina Arriaga de Bucholz, Vice Chair United States Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF).
