German Congrss on Logistic

by Nazmun Nesa Piari from Berlin : The 31. logistic Congress of German Logistic Association, Bundesvereinigung Logistik (VL), took place in Berlin In Hotel Intercontinentalthree for three days (22. -- 24. 10 20ß14.). Participants came from 40 nations. At the "International meeting point" of the congress many foreign delegates gave lectures. Among them were guests from China, USA, Finnland, Brasil, Mongolia and India. Two hundred exhibitors had their stand to give information & to make new contacts. 3.122 participants came to have their annual meeting with other experts from the Logistic & Supply Chain Management. This congress created a pleasent atmosphere for personal discussion and debate. Lounge & Havana bar & a reserevd hall were also provided places to sit & talk. Spending a whole day in such a congress can be tiring. So the organisers had created a place for active breaks where one could do fitness for the back, fitness at work, coordination training etc under the supervision of a trainer.
The German logistic prize this year was given to Mercedes-AMG. Young Scientist Dr. Matthias Winkenbach got the prize for the scientific achievement in the logistic branch. Media prize won by Hessische Radio, Radio Bremen and WDR. Editor Christian Schwalb, editor of Politics & Economic deptt, of Radio Bremen got the prize in The category of radio. In the category of TV programm Steffen Clement got the prize for his article "Return Nonsense: Why the flood of parcels in online-trade cannot be stopped." This programme was shown in the "Plusminus" programme of ARD, the first national TV Channel of Germany Clement describes the phenomenon of returned parcels in online trade from all sides with the statements from traders and customers. He gives interesting numbers and works with infographics and animations. In this way he describes the over-all costs of return packages and its impact on the environment. A special prize was given by the jury to the team of the magazine "Quarks and Co." of WDR Radio & TV. They got it for their programme " Everything. Always. Everywhere. How logistics decides our everyday life."
Logistics in Germany is the third largest economic sector and internationally leading what regards quality. In a World Bank ranking of 160 nations Germany is the number 1. But the World Bank also sees potential for improvement.
