At the press conference, Helal A. Sheikh said, “Last month, our campaign for Council District 32 finished without the result we were hoping for. I am very proud of what we did together and want to thank you for your generous support and for embarking on this adventure with me.”
“You gave your time, energy and made a financial investment to help us build an amazing team that mounted a campaign unlike any our community has ever seen.”
Helal A. Sheikh said, “I entered this race because I love this city and the neighborhood where I live. I also believe that the South Asian community should have a voice at the table on our City Council. Because of you, the volunteers and supporters that made this campaign run, we were closer than ever to electing a South Asian to the New York City Council.”
Helal Sheikh said, “I hope you will stick with me going forward as we work together with other partners in the community to fight to make this goal happen in the future. Our work is not done. It is only the beginning.”
