High School Student groups from China and USA visit Bangladesh Embassy
Washington: A group of forty one high school students of China and USA 9 February visited Bangladesh Embassy in Washington, DC and attended a presentation on Bangladesh. The students also took part in a question answer session with Akramul Qader, Bangladesh Ambassador to the USA and State Minister. As part of its outreach programme, the Embassy in collaboration with University of the District of Columbia Diplomatic Neighbourhood Initiative orgranized the session.
The Chinese High School Students joined their cohorts from International School of the Americas, San Antonio, Texas to learn about Bangladesh through interaction with the Ambassador and other Embassy officials. The US students- who attended the session as part of their course curricula on population control in Bangladesh for attaining the Millennium Development Goals -asked questions on family planning strategies adopted by Bangladesh. In his remarks, Ambassador Akramul Qader informed the students that Bangladesh has succeeded in controlling birth rate, as it has invested a lot in educating the female students and implemented family planning programme in a coordinated manner. He mentioned that Bangladesh is highly appreciated by the international community for success in empowering women and women leadership. In response to questions from the Chinese students, Ambassador Qader elaborated about the light, medium and heavy industries in Bangladesh and how these are successfully entering the world market. He thanked the organizers for arranging the event that exposed to the students important facts about Bangladesh and he highly appreciated the inquisitiveness of the students.
Deputy Chief of Mission Md. Shameem Ahsan, Minister (Press) Swapan Kumar Saha, Paul Nehru Tennassee, Coordinator, International Co-curricular Programs, University of the District of Columbia, Rui Wang, Vice President of the US-China Economic and Cultural Development Alliance, Liu Yu Xia, a teacher leader from China attended the session which was moderated by First Secretary of the Embassy MJH Jabed.
