LIU STATEMENT ON NYCHA SHAKEUP

NEW YORK, N.Y. – Comptroller John C. Liu stated the following in
response to the reorganization of the Board of the New York City
Housing Authority (NYCHA):
“The first order of business for this new board should be promoting
transparency about NYCHA’s management and finances. Both residents and
the public need much better information about what NYCHA’s management
is doing with the money, especially the nearly $1 billion in
uncommitted and unspent capital funds the housing authority is sitting
on. Toward that end, we reiterate our call for NYCHA to join Checkbook
