LIU TO TIME WARNER AND CBS: DON’T LET ANOTHER BLACKOUT HAPPEN
NEW YORK, N.Y. – City Comptroller John C. Liu stated the following with regard to Time Warner Cable’s (NYSE: TWC) threat to remove CBS (NYSE: CBS) stations from cable systems in New York City homes again if an agreement is not reached:
“I urge Time Warner not to make good on its threat to black out CBS service once again at 5-O’clock tonight. Both sides in this dispute have shown near total disrespect for the millions of New York City customers who pay a substantial amount each month for cable service.
“Do not continue to use the people of New York City as pawns in your negotiations.”
Comptroller Liu sits on the New York City Franchise Concession and Review Committee, which authorizes the television franchise agreement between New York City and Time Warner Cable and provides TWC access to New York City customers.Press Release.
