MAYOR DE BLASIO ANNOUNCES ACTIVATION OF THE UNIFIED VICTIM IDENTIFICATION SYSTEM: Individuals can report New Yorkers suspected to be missing due to COVID-19 pandemic at nyc.gov/CovidMissing

USANEWSONLINE.COM DESK, NEW YORK—Mayor Bill de Blasio today announced the activation of the Unified Victim Identification System (UVIS) in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. This system allows New Yorkers to file a report at nyc.gov/CovidMissing about a friend or loved one who may be missing due to COVID-19. People without internet access can file a report by calling 311 or 212-NEW-YORK (212-639-9675) from outside New York City.

“We are leaving no stone unturned to help New Yorkers in this time of crisis,” said Mayor Bill de Blasio. “This system will support so many families as they navigate the difficult process of locating a missing loved one. To those who are grieving: we see you, we hear you, and we are here to help.”

Reports will only be accepted for individuals who are missing, and not known to be in specific hospitals. The report will then be sent to NYPD for further investigation.
UVIS is coordinated by the Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications (DoITT), 311, NYPD, and Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME).
