Congresswoman to hold roundtable with borough organizations that stand to lose federal funds

Participants to include officials from Queens senior facilities, South Asian American organization, hospital, museum, social service groups

This Friday, March 31st, U.S. Rep. Grace Meng (D-Queens) will hold a roundtable discussion on President Trump’s proposed budget cuts and the negative impacts it would have on Queens. Taking part in the roundtable will be several borough organizations that stand to lose federal funds under the President’s budget ax. Participants will include officials from Elmhurst Hospital Center, the Queens Museum, Selfhelp Community Services which operates senior facilities throughout Queens, the Asian American Federation, South Asian Council for Social Services (SACSS), the Anti-Violence Project and a representative from the Mayor’s Office. The entire meeting will be open to media. The President’s budget proposal – which was released two weeks ago – seeks severe spending cuts at virtually all federal agencies and proposes the elimination of many federal programs.

WHAT: U.S. Rep. Grace Meng (D-Queens) holds roundtable discussion on the negative impacts that President Trump’s proposed budget cuts would have on Queens.

WHEN: Friday, March 31st at 11:30 a.m.

WHERE: Meng’s Northeast Queens office, 40-13 159th Street (corner of Northern Boulevard) in Flushing, Queens. Free street parking on north side of 159th Street.
