MEXICO TO WIDEN CO-OPERATION WITH BANGLADESH:PRESIDENT OF MEXICO FELIPE CALDERON

USA NEWS: “Mexico is keen to widen bilateral relations with Bangladesh” Felipe de Jesús Calderón Hinojosa, President of the United Mexican States said this on Thursday, January 20 in Mexico City while receiving Akramul Qader as the new Bangladesh Ambassador to Mexico with residence in Washington DC. While presenting Letters of Credence, Ambassador Qader expressed his satisfaction for the privilege to serve as Bangladesh Ambassador to Mexico. Bangladesh Ambassador also conveyed the warm and profound greetings of the President and Prime Minister of Bangladesh to the Mexican President. Recognizing potentials in exploring new areas of cooperation between the two friendly countries, Bangladesh Ambassador expressed his intention to work to further strengthen the relationship both in depth and dimension. Mexican President stressed that apart from fighting climate change, both countries could work together in the field of poverty alleviation and other areas which would eventually lead to peace and prosperity. Bangladesh Ambassador also congratulated Mexican President for successfully organizing the COP-16. On behalf of the President, he also invited the Mexican President to visit Bangladesh.
The President of Mexico wished a successful tour of duty for the Bangladesh Ambassador. Ambassador Qader was accompanied by his wife Rifat Sultana Akram. During the ceremony, Ambassador Patricia Espinosa Cantellano, Minister for Foreign Affairs and high dignitaries were present. Following the presentation, a smartly turned out military contingent played the national anthem of Bangladesh.
Immediately after the ceremony, Bangladesh Ambassador had the opportunity to talk to the Press. He informed them about on-going development programs under the present democratic government of the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, stressed on closer bilateral ties, and mentioned about the trade delegation Mexican Government intends to send to Bangladesh soon while expressing recent upward trend in trade relations between the two countries.
After the ceremony, Mexican President hosted a lunch in honor of the Ambassadors who presented Letters of Credence. Members of the diplomatic corps were also in attendance. While welcoming the new Ambassadors, President Calderon urged them to treat Mexico as their own home. Held at the National Palace, 16 non-resident and 16 resident Ambassadors presented Letters of Credence today.
