USANewsOnline.Com Desk, New York : In recognition of February as Black History Month, Nassau County Legislator Debra Mulé (D - Freeport) honored Baldwin Senior High School physical education teacher and coach Darius Burton in recognition of his accomplishments and contributions to the Baldwin school community. Legislator Mulé presented a Nassau County Legislature Citation to Coach Burton on Friday, Feb. 11.
Coach Burton attended Baldwin Senior High School and became a two time All-American in soccer as well as an All-American in basketball before graduating in 1993. He went on to study at Hofstra University, where he played both soccer and basketball. Upon graduating he returned to his alma mater as a physical education teacher and coach.
“While he has coached many sports at Baldwin High School, Coach Burton recently reached and exceeded an impressive milestone when he eclipsed 350 wins with the Boys Varsity Basketball team,” Legislator Mulé said. “But above all else Coach Burton is a beloved educator and mentor who has made a huge impact on not only his players but the community. We are truly blessed to have a leader like Coach Burton who cares so deeply and gives so much to everyone he serves.” Press Release.
