National Mourning Day And 43rd Death Anniversary Of The Father Of The Nation Observed In Copenhagen

UsaNewsOnline.Com Desk, Copenhagen: Bangladesh Mission in Copenhagen has observed today the ‘National Mourning Day’ with due respect and solemnity marking the 43rd death anniversary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. The day started with the national flag hoisted half-mast in the morning by the Ambassador at the Chancery in presence of the Mission officials.

A discussion meeting and dua mahfil were organized in the evening at the Chancery auditorium. Around one hundred guests attended the event which included, among others, members of Bangladesh community comprised of political figures, professionals and artistes. The session began with the recitation from the Holy Quran followed by placing of flower wreath at the portrait of the Father of the Nation, observing one-minute silence in the honor of the martyrs, reading out messages of Hon’ble President, Hon’ble Prime Minister, Hon’ble Foreign Minister and Hon’ble State Minister for Foreign Affairs. A short documentary on the political life of Bangabandhu was screened during the programme.

Members of the Bangladesh Community in Copenhagen took part in the discussion segment. The discussants focused on the life and philosophy of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. In his speech, Ambassador Muhith highlighted on the different qualities and attributes of the great life of the Father of the Nation. He respectfully recalled the life-long struggle and sacrifices of Bangabandhu and his intrepid and sagacious leadership in liberating the country from the clutches of the Pakistani rulers. He condemned the dastardly act of assassination of Bangabandhu and his family members by the agents of the anti-liberation and defeated forces in the fateful night of 15th August. The Ambassador further highlighted the success of the present government in carrying forward the values, ideals, vision and strategy of Bangabandhu to realize his dream for a secular, progressive and democratic ‘Sonar Bangla’.

Finally, he called upon the expatriate Bangladesh community to encourage their children to research and study about the life of Bangabandhu and to contribute from respective positions to fulfil Bangabandhu’s dream of ‘Sonar Bangla’.
