National Mourning Day Observed at Bangladesh Embassy, Washington D.C.

UsaNewsOnline.Com Desk, Washington DC : Hundreds of Muslim devotees who joined Jumma prayer at the Islamic Center in Washington D.C. Friday sought divine blessings for the departed souls of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and other members of his family who embraced martyrdom on August 15, 1975. The Islamic Center’s Imam Dr. Abdullah KHOUJI of Makkah led the Jumma prayer and also prayed for progress and prosperity of Bangladesh. After the prayer, Bangladesh Embassy distributed food among the devotees. Prime Minister’s Advisor (Political Affairs) H.T. Imam and Bangladesh Ambassador to the USA Mohammad Ziauddin attended the prayer along with officers and employees of the embassy. The distribution of food by the Bangladesh Embassy in Washington D.C. on the occasion of the death anniversary of the Father of the Nation is first of its kind. This is the part of the Embassy‘s National Mourning Day program to mark the 42nd anniversary of death of Bangabandhu that will be observed on August 15. The national flag will be hoisted at half-mast and discussion on life and work of Bangabandhu will be organized at the chancery on the day.
