New Bangladesh Ambassador Shahidul Islam Arrives
Shamim Ahmad, Washington D.C., 08 January 2021: Ambassador M Shahidul Islam arrived here today (Friday) to take up his new assignment as Bangladesh Ambassador to the United States.
Officers of Bangladesh Embassy in Washington, D.C. and Consulate General, New York greeted him at Dulles International Airport in the morning.

Prior to his current assignment, Mr. Islam served as the Secretary General of BIMSTEC and Bangladesh Ambassador to South Korea and France.
In his distinguished diplomatic career, he also served in Bangladesh Missions in Kolkata, Geneva and Washington D.C.

At the Foreign Ministry in Dhaka, he worked in various capacities including Director General (Americas) and Director General (Europe).

Mr. Islam is a career foreign service officer belonging to 1985 batch of Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) Foreign Affairs cadre. He obtained his Masters in International Relations from Dhaka University.
Mr. Islam is married and blessed with two children.
