New Committee of Dhaka University Alumni Forum (DUAFI) Elected in the United States
TUSANewsOnline.Com Desk, New York : he newly elected executive committee of the Dhaka University Alumni Forum, Inc. (DUAFI), an organization of Dhaka University alumni residing in the Greater Washington, D.C. area, has assumed office for the next two years (2025-2026), starting from the first day of the year. The new committee includes distinguished microbiologist Dr. Ishrat Sultana Mita, currently working in the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, as President, and renowned Rabindra Sangeet artist and a family therapist Dorothy Bose as General Secretary. The other members of the five-member board are: Vice President, Banker Iraj Talukdar; Joint Secretary, Dr. Tareque Mehdi; and Treasurer, World Bank official Mohammad Anwar Zzaman.
The newly elected President of DUAFI, Dr. Israt Sultana Mita, expressed her desire to maintain the continuity of success achieved by previous committees and to make the organization more dynamic. She aims to engage both new and old members in various social, cultural, educational, and humanitarian activities.
She stated that through DUAFI, efforts would be made to achieve several important objectives. These include the development of leadership qualities in the next generation and keeping them connected with Bangladesh’s culture, helping the underprivileged population of Bangladesh through various social organizations, and providing scholarships for poor and talented students.
She also mentioned that she is considering organizing large-scale reunions every few years by connecting Dhaka University organizations in different states of the U.S. and organizing initiatives with successful alumni in the workplace. The new committee members have pledged to carry out their responsibilities with cooperation from everyone, ensuring that the tasks entrusted to them are performed properly.
