UsaNewsOnline.Com, Queens, NY January 11: – Soma Syed, candidate for City Council’s district 24 in Central Queens has been endorsed by The National Latino Officers Association (NLOA)  today. This crucial endorsement for Soma Syed has come at a time when the lives of the common people are being suffered due to unrest , intolerance, pandemic throughout the country. Using of guns, uncontrolled vandalism and killing have become rampant in New York City. Not only that the NYPD and nationwide law enforcement agencies are being attacked by the domestic terrorists, which is even manifested in the Capitol Hill, the highest symbol of democracy of the world.

Anthony Miranda President of NLOA said, “Law enforcement is at a critical juncture, but with Soma Syed, our members have an opportunity to elect a leader who is committed to public safety, as well as to the men and women who put their lives on the line every day to keep our families and our communities safe. Not giving NYPD the resources it needs is a very dangerous step toward letting the bad guys win.”

According to Police Commissioner Dermot Shea, New York City was expected to finish 2020 with a 14-year high in the category of violence. And the prognosis for 2021 isn’t any better.
“Public safety has always been a top priority for me as a community leader. So, I’m proud and honored to be endorsed by the officers who protect and serve our communities,” stated Soma Syed. “As the next City Council member for district 24, I will work to ensure that City Hall understands de-funding the police is not the only solution. Police reform will give our officers the support they need to continue protecting our communities.”
Syed, a Jamaica-based attorney, who is the president of the Queens County Women’s Bar Association, grew up in Jamaica, attended Albany Law School and came back to the Council’s district 24 to serve the community with thousands of hours of pro-bono work to support people with housing, immigration, unemployment issues.
