Udichi USA honors Dr. Nazrul Islam
UsaNewsOnline.Com Desk, New York : Udichi, USA honored Dr. Nazrul Islam for his professional achievements and his social work, in particular his pioneering role in building environment movement in Bangladesh.
The honoring ceremony was part of the biennial conference of Udichi, USA, held in New York city on October 22-23. Kamal Lohani, President of Bangladesh Udichi, the main guest of the event, handed over the plaque to Dr. Nazrul Islam, and Dr. Abdullah, President of Udichi, USA, presented him with the Uttoriyo.
In response, Dr. Nazrul thanked Udichi, USA for the honor accorded to him. He praised Udichi, USA for its multifarious activities, including promotion of Bangla among the second generation of non-resident Bangladeshis, by running a Bangla school. He said that he felt attached to Udichi both because of its progressive orientation, which he shares, and because he himself comes from a family with strong cultural roots.
He noted that bulding of the environment movement has been possible because of participation by many, with whom he wanted to share the honor. In this context, he mentioned the names of other leaders of the environment movement, in particular of the BEN Tri-State chapter for New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut.
