Bangladesh Embassy And Indian Embassy Jointly Celebrated Rabindra Joyonti In South Korea

UsaNewsOnline.Com Desk : Bangladesh Embassy in Seoul celebrated Rabindra Joyonti on 07 May 2018 in collaboration with the Indian Embassy in Seoul and Indian Art Museum in South Korea. This was the first-ever joint celebration of birth anniversary of Rabindranath with the Indian Embassy in South Korea.Bangladesh Ambassador to the Republic of Korea Abida Islam, Indian Ambassador Vikram Doraiswami and the Director of the Indian Art Museum and President of Tagore of Korea participated in the event. Besides, the officials of Bangladesh Embassy and their family members, expatriate Indians and  Rabindra enthusiasts of Korea were also among the presence.The Bangladesh Ambassador, Indian

ambassador and Dr. Kim Yak Shik delivered their remarks in the two-hour event. Their speeches were basically focused on the illustrious life and works of the poet. In her speech, a renowned Rabindra researcher and prestigious Padma Shri awardee Dr. Kim Yang Shik specifically mentioned about Rabindranath’s poem ‘The Lamp of the East’ based on Korea. She also said that Rabindranath’s writings have inspired people across the globe including the Koreans. The Bangladesh Ambassador stated that Rabindranath spent ten years of his creative in East Bengal or today’s Bangladesh. She also mentioned Kobiguru as the bridge between Bangladesh-India friendship. The Indian Ambassador said that Rabindranath is very much relevant in today’s world even 77 years after his death.

After the speeches, a cultural programme with the performances by Bangladeshis as well as Indians and Koreans took place. This segment was decorated with songs, dances, poetry recitations and instrumental song based on Rabindranath’s works. Bangladesh Ambassador actively participated in the segment. A special performance, Gitanjali recitation by the Koreans in their native language captivated the guests. After the programme, both the countries expressed interest to organize a similar event in future.
