ASAAL Secretary Karim Chowdhury : The 2022 Staten Island Power 100 – City & State New York

USANewsOnline.Com Desk, New York : Alliance of South Asian American Labor (ASAAL) National Secretary Mohammed Karim Chowdhury named Staten Island power 100 in 2022 by prestigious political journal City & State NY. He was nominated Staten Island Power 100 in 2021 as well.

In addition to ASAAL National Secretary from 2015 ASAAL grown to 18 chapter in 10 states under his leadership. Mr. Chowdhury is an influential Labor leaders in NYC labor movement from 2001 when he started his civil service as a Fraud Investigator with the City of New York. He was an active union leader for lical 371 until 2007 when he moved to NYS Civil service system and joined NYS Public Employee Federation where he has been holding multiple statewide positions including Labor Management, Health & Safety. Grievance Appeal, Joint Affirmative Action, NYC CLC Delegate and PEF Executive Board Member.
Mr. Chowdhury is a member of the Executive Board for Richmond County Democratic Party and has been holding AD 61 Judicial delegate position from 2018. Mr. Chowdhury was also elected as DNC Delegate for Biden Harris slate in 2019.
Most recently, Mr. Chowdhury was appointed as ghe labor chair of Richmond County Democratic Party to organize, engage, mobilize and empower working class Staten Islanders in main stream politics.
Mr. Chowdhury’s hard work to uplift south Asian Americans and working class people didn’t go unnoticed by political power houses. He was recognized by City, State and Federal elected officials and awarded with citations and Proclamation. Mr, Chowdhury was also recognized in US Congress in 2018 by then Congressman Max Rose of CD 11.
