GENERAL MAG OSMANI -THE COMMANDER IN CHIEF OF BANGLADESH LIBERATION FORCES
M. Quaium Chowdhury : Mohammed Ataul Gani  Osmani was born on 1st. Sept. 1918 in Sylhet and died on 16. Feb. 1984. He was known as Bongo Bir — Hero of Bengal. He was the Commander in Chief of the Bangladesh Liberation Forces in 1971. He started his career in the British Indian Army in the year 1939. He faught in Burma during the World II and served in Pakistan Army  till 1967.
He was appointed as the — head of Bengali Armed Resistance — during the Liberation War in 1971. He was the Minister of Defence in the Provisional Government of Bangladesh. After the War of Independence — he became the — General of Bangladesh Army.  General M.A.G. Osmani is the — Founder of Bangladesh Armed Forces. He was the — Cabinet Minister of the Government of Bangladesh —  headed by Bongo Bondhu Sheik Mujibur Rahman. He was an honest man throughout his whole life, a man of strict principle and used to lead a simple life — being free from any greed for money, power, name, fame or self interest. He was a true Patriot and most trusted  Political  companion of  Bongo Bondhu for which General Osmani became a prominent leader of Awami League and became member of Parliament of the constituent assembly.
He was a strong believer of  of Democracy and Fundamental Democratic Rights for which — to protest  against the — Introduction of  One Party Rule under the umbrella of BAKSHAL — Propounded by Bongo Bondhu Sheik Mujibur Rahman, — General M. A.G. Osmani resigned from the Post of Cabinet Minister. He was out spoken and an upholder of Democracy for which — he could not compromise with Bongo Bondu — at the cost of  his Principle. But General Osmani — had high regard and respect — for Bongo Bondhu for which he regretted for Bongo Bondhu  thinking that it was a — Dream of the father of the — Bengali Nation to build the Country on the — 4 (Four ) Pillars — e.g.  DEMOCRACY, NATIONALISM,  SOCIALISM  AND  SECULARISM; *** And accordingly the Constitution of Bangladesh was Written by the — CONSTITUTIONAL EXPERTS ON THE APPROVAL OF  BONGO BONDHU —  Who Fought his whole life along with — Krishok, Sromik, Chathro – Jonotha — for a free and Independant  Bangladesh — Where  the Fundamental Democratic Rights and the Human Rights will Prevail — Which were rarely available or even unavailable — in the period of  Pakistani Regime as well as in the British Rule.
But unfortunately — May be  the Leftist Political  Communist Politicians within Awami League and other Leftist Political Parties — apparently succeeded to motivate and influence — Bongo Bondhu & Awami top leaders — TO INTRODUCE ONE  PARTY  —  BAKSHALI  RULE  IN  BANGLADESH AT THE COST OF THE  HEART OF OUR  CONSTITUTION — THE DEMOCRATIC  FUNDAMENTAL RIGHTS OF THE PEOPLE OF BANGLADESH, —  WHICH WAS NOT ACCEPTABLE TO THE — responsible, far sighted Socio – Political leaders as well as many people of Bangladesh — including General M.A.G. Osmani ; — who will be remembered in the History of Bangladesh Along with our Great Leader – Father of the Nation Bongo Bondu  Shahid Sheik Mujibur Rahman,  Renound Freedom Fighter  Shahid President Ziaur Rahman, Shahid Salam, Shahid Barkath, Jono Netha Moulana Bhashani and many others — known and unknown who sacrificed their lives — for the people of Bangladesh, their Freedom and Independence.
As one of the great Patriot and honest politician of our  Country  — General M.A.G. Osmani’s name wasalways remembered — by every one — to solve various  Politico – Military  Crisis of Bangladesh. Whenever the Armed Forces of our Country — Went out of Control & discipline — involved in killing each other including our beloved political leaders —  fighting with each other ;  when there was no Chain of Command — General Osmani — came forward to restore peace, stability and Chain of Command in Bangladesh Armed Forces — as their honorable Guardian.
