THIS PROGRAM IS AN ATTEMPT TO CREATE AN AWARENESS OF THE NECESSITY OF RHYTHM IN EVERY HUMAN LIFE.

INTRODUCTION:
- Skills in music & math are overlapped & connected.
- Music has a great avenue to teach mathematics to children.
- Music enhances learning difficult mathematical concepts & process.
- In previous times rhythm was used to memorize mathematical tables.
- Percussion instruments are combination of musical rhythms & sounds composed mathematically.
RESEARCH INDICATES:
- Listening to classical music enhances performance known as Mozart effect.
- Edelson & Johnson (2003) combined math & music in teaching.
- Zhan (2008) explained how music emphasized sequential skills, rhythm & pitch improvement in one’s math ability.
- Music could contribute to academic achievements, motivation, and creativity development. (Eady & Wilson, 2004).
- Musicians learn complex motor and auditory skills at a young age, which they practice throughout their entire careers. (Gaser & Schlaug, 2003).
- Mathematics acumen increases amongst music learning students.
- Listening to music has proved enhancement in cognitive abilities.
- Rhythm impacts better academic enhancement.
- Children involved in music exhibited better in IQ tests. (Schellenberg, 2004).
- In Indian music rhythm originated from heart beat and the cyclic process of taal resonates that of life (Guha & Chakrabarty, 2015).
- RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN MUSIC & MATH
- Classical music can also help students learn mathematics in a much more enjoyable manner. (Crowder, 2008).
- Test scores for preschool-age students increased for those who received instruction in piano, rhythm or singing. (Rauscher, 1993)
- Schmithorst & Holland (2004) found a statistically significant difference in the neural correlates of mathematic processing between musicians and non-musicians.
