A total of 18,857 Bangladesh nationals who were employed in Libya have been repatriated to Bangladesh

According to latest reports received at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dhaka, a total of 18,857 Bangladesh nationals who were employed in Libya have been repatriated to Bangladesh. Of these, the return of 3,287 persons has been arranged by their employers; some have also returned on their own arrangement, and 15,570 persons have returned through the arrangements made by the IOM. IOM is making all out efforts to arrange repatriation of the remaining approximately 19,064 Bangladesh nationals from Egypt and Tunisia by 21 March 2011.

Egypt: About 1000 Bangladesh nationals are now left at the border check point of Al Salloum, Egypt who await repatriation. Influx of Bangladesh nationals for the time being at this border has remarkably reduced. Today, the second Biman flight carrying 296 Bangladesh nationals  from Alexandria is expected to arrive at HSJIA around 0015 hrs on 15 March.

Tunisia: At the moment 10,111 Bangladesh nationals are waiting in Ras Jdir border for repatriation. Today, 2,216 Bangladesh nationals are scheduled to reach Dhaka. An additional staff from Bangladesh Embassy Rome has joined the Ministry’s team in Tunisia. The Tunisian Red Crescent Society is supplying food to the stranded Bangladesh nationals who have fled Libya to safety.

Algeria: A group of 189 Bangladesh nationals who had fled Libya are in Ain-Amenas, a southern-eastern city of Algeria which is close to the Libyan border. They are awaiting repatriation. The Algerian government is providing security and logistic support. Ministry is trying to repatriate them with the help of IOM.  

Greece:  Ministry has received the details of 11 missing Bangladesh nationals who had jumped ship while berthing at Hania Port, Crete Island. Their details are as follows:
