ASAAL Brooklyn Chapter Executive Board for 2017-2018 ready to work for the Community


UsaNewsOnline.Com, New York : The ALliance of South ASian AMerican LAbor (ASAAL), Brooklyn CHapter EXecutive Board for the year 2017-2018 were inaugurated Saturday, September 23, 2017 at Punjab Restaurant Hall, 691 Coney Island, Brooklyn, NY 11218.
Over 200 Brooklynites gathered in this occasion supported by National President Maf Misbah Uddin, Secretary Karim Chowdhury, Women’s Committee Chair Sahana Begum, Pennsylvania Chapter President Kazi Motiur Rahman, Queens Chapter President Monirul Islam, Executive Vice President Nurul Haque, Executive Director Shabul Uddin, Staten Island Chapter President Dr. Nithiananda Chatterjie, Executive Director Afzal Ali Ansari, Women’s Committee Chair Farhana Ahmed; Vice President Monjur Sheikh; Youth Committee Fatin Ishteaaque, who also lead us on the “pledge of the legion”; Bronx Chapter Secretary Muzammel Hossain Murad; Vice Presidents Ala Uddin; Board of Trustee Reaz Uddin Kamran and many Community leaders.We were joined by the State Senator Roxanne Persaud as Keynote speaker, Assemblyman Nick Perry, Assemblywoman Jamie Williams, City Council Member Brad Lander, and Voter Assistance Commission member Mazeda Uddin as Special guest speaker. In her keynote speech she emphasized on South Asian organized together and community coalition building and to vote. Assembly member Nick Perry said community before you decided to organize and became powerful receiving attention from the elected officials and very soon you also will be recognized what you are doing here today!

In his brief remarks, ASAAL founder and National President said, it is incumbent up on us to do all we can to help others. “We can no longer think only about us, we can’t be anymore self centered we must become the center for all around us”. “it is not what we achieved in life for us, it is what we all achieved together for all”, he added. He then added, “today Brooklyn has staged the largest inaugural event gathering among ASAAL’s nine chapters, next year at this time we will see what best this chapter has done for its community.”
“ASAAL is the bridge between our community and the mainstream politics”, said ASAAL National Secretary Karim Chowdhury. “We request everyone to join ASAAL if you like to be part of American politics”, he added.
Newly elected President Dr. Mujibur Majumder said, “ASAAL is the only organization in America that South Asians should join and be part of, I’m honored that I joined today, I will do all I can to make Brooklyn ASAAL the best it can be, and I know, together we can.”
