Bangabandhu’s 7th March Speech Best in Human History: Ambassador Ziauddin

UsaNewsOnline.Com, Washington, D.C. : The historic 7^th March was observed with renewed pride at Bangladesh Embassy in Washington, D.C. Wednesday commemorating Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s epoch-making speech that fired up the Bengali nation to fight and win the independence of Bangladesh in 1971.

On March 7 in 1971, Bangabandhu delivered the momentous speech at the Race Course, now Suhrawardy Udyan in Dhaka, effectively declared the War of Independence.

This year the observance of the 7^th March got special significance as the UNESCO last October included the Bangabandhu’s speech in the Memory of the World International Register – a list of the world’s important documentary heritage.

In observance of the day, the embassy held a discussion and screened the 7^th March speech at Bangabandhu auditorium. The messages from the Hon’ble President and the Hon’ble Prime Minister were read out.

Bangladesh Ambassador to the USA Mohammad Ziauddin, president of Bangabandhu Parishad Washington DC chapter Eng. Mizanur Rahman Khan and community leader Prof. Zia Khan took part in the discussion.

In his statement, Ambassador Ziauddin said Bangabandhu, in his iconic 7^th March speech, spoke from his heart for the freedom and independence of the Bengali nation.

He said international connoisseurs and critics of speeches consider Bangabandhu’s speech as among the best by any political leader or personality in human history.

They agree that the profound intensity of feelings resonated the emotions deep in the hearts of every person who listened.  “This is the only speech in history that has led to the birth of a country,’ the Ambassador noted.

Earlier, Ambassador Ziauddin accompanied by officials and employees of the embassy placed wreath at the bust of Bangabandhu in the chancery.
