Foreign Minister visits Consulate General of Bangladesh in New York

UsaNewsOnline.com : Mr. Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali,MP,  Foreign Minister of Bangladesh visited the Consulate General of Bangladesh  in  New York on 10 September,2014.  Mr. Md. Shameem Ahsan,ndc, Consul General and other Officers and Officials of the Mission welcomed him.

After introduction, the Hon’ble Foreign Minister highlighted on the policy priorities of the present Government under the leadership of the Hon’ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. While touching on the consular and welfare issues, he reiterated that the present government has attached highest priority for the well-being of the expatriate Bangladesh nationals who are making enormous contribution to the buoyancy of the economy of the country. He added that digitalization of consular services under the present government has significantly helped render services more expeditiously and efficiently. The Consul General briefly narrated the activities of the Mission and expressed Mission’s gratefulness for the continued support being received from the Government. The Foreign Minister deeply appreciated the Mission officials for their dedicated services despite logistical and other constraints. He also urged them to render services in respective fields with more devotion. In this regard, he assured to extend all-out support from the Ministry.

The Minister later made a tour to various Sections of the Consulate and interacted with the Mission officials. He also enquired about the well-being of the Bangladesh nationals who were present at the Consulate to receive services. The Foreign Minister was accompanied by his wife Mrs. Shaheen Ali. Dr. Abdul Momen, Permanent Representative of Bangladesh to UN and Mr. Mustafzur Rahman, Deputy Permanent Representative,   senior officials/delegates from the Government, among others were in attendance. The guests were served with Bangladeshi cuisine.

It may be mentioned here that the Foreign Minister is currently leading a delegation from Bangladesh to attend the UN High level Meeting under UNGA on “Culture of Peace”.Press Release
