Noted comedian Tele Samad passes away

DHAKA, April 6, 2019 (BSS) – Noted comedian and film actor Tele Samad
passed away at a city hospital this afternoon at the age of 74.

He breathed his last at the hospital around 1.30 pm, hospital sources said.
He left behind two sons, two daughters and a host of relatives and well-
wishers to mourn his death.

Tele Samad had been suffering from old-age complications for the past few
years. He had a bypass surgery in the USA in 2017 and returned home in
September the same year after recovery.

Actor Samad underwent bypass surgery in the USA in 2017. He was admitted to a city hospital twice in October and November in 2017 and doctors conducted an emergency operation on the big toe of his left leg. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina gave the actor financial assistance for his treatment.

The lovable comedian Abdus Samad was born in Munshiganj on January 8, 1945.
He adopted the name Tele Samad when his movie career began to take off as he came from Television.

His debut movie was “Kar Bou,” directed by Nazrul Islam and released in
1973. Samad studied at the fine arts department of Dhaka University, and had a talent for music.

He was the music director of the movie ‘Mona Pagla.’ Tele Samad’s fame
skyrocketed after his movie ‘Nayanmoni’ was released.

” His most memorable movie is “Paye Cholar Poth,” and he was a playback
singer in more than 50 Bangladeshi flicks. Tele Samad performed in about 600 films. His final acting performance was the movie Zero Degree, directed by Animesh Aich.
