NYC Schools Will Be Open Wednesday, Mayor Says
By Patrick Hedlund, NEW YORK CITY — City schools will reopen Wednesday after closing Tuesday for the snowstorm, Mayor de Blasio said.
The mayor announced the decision at a press conference shortly after noon Tuesday, after forecasters revised their snowfall estimates to 8 inches — down from the 20 inches originally predicted.
De Blasio said the situation was “under control” enough to make the call to reopen schools Wednesday.
The mayor defended his move to close the schools on Tuesday, saying he was “at peace” with the decision he made Monday afternoon.
“We don’t do it very often under any circumstances,” de Blasio said. “I’m comfortable it was the right decision.”
He ordered a citywide state of emergency to continue through midnight Wednesday. dnainfo.com/new-york
