Reshma Saujani’s Queens Office Opening!

Reshma Saujani celebrated her Queens office opening on August 9th, with a strong showing from the Queens community. More than 50 people came by the opening to meet with Ms. Saujani and show their support for her run for Congress.

The office is located in Astoria, Queens, at 29-06 30th Avenue. It will provide a base of operations for the campaign, as they continue to reach out to voters and residents of Queens and make the case for Ms. Saujani.

“Queens deserves adequate representation in Congress,” said Ms. Saujani. “Carolyn Maloney has been ignoring this community for so long. We need a Congressperson who is proud to represent Queens.”

Saujani also noted that in the last three years only five percent of the federal funding Congressman Maloney has secured has been for Queens. No funding has gone to Bangladeshi organizations in the district.

“We cannot afford to keep shortchanging this community. We suffer from some of the worst schools, worst pollution, worst levels of unemployment and worst transportation in the city. I will fight to make sure we get our fair share of federal funds.”

Saujani emphasized the need for Bangladeshi voters to turnout to ensure that there is a change in Washington.

“The primary election is on September 14th. We need everyone to tell their family members and friends to come out and support new ideas and new leadership on September 14th. You can register to vote before August 20th on my website at reshma2010.com/register.”

Because primary elections typically have low voter turnout, the vote from the Bangladeshi community is key to Ms. Saujani’s victory in this election.
