SOMA SYED SET TO MAKE HISTORY IN QUEENS: Grassroot petition operation collects 11K signatures to secure a spot-on Ballot for Civil Court “County-Wide” Judgeship in Queens

UsaNewsOnline.Com, Queens, NY – Soma Syed, the president of the Queens County Women’s Bar Association, is now an official candidate for Civil Court judge in Queens County, and is gearing up to make history by running in the June 22^nd Democratic Primary.   

Soma, a wife and a mother, in private practice, will be promoting democracy by ensuring the voters of the borough have a choice to vote for who will preside on the bench, dispensing justice in Queens County. 

Soma is a true Queens story.  She immigrated to the United States from Bangladesh attended local Queens schools, graduated from Jamaica High School, City College CUNY, and Albany Law School, then returning to her home borough of Queens to practice law. 

Soma operates a law office that serves the Queens community on a wide range of legal issues.  If elected she would add much needed diversity to the lineup of judges in Queens. Soma could become be the first Muslim-American, and first Bangladeshi American, to become a judge in Queens County.

“All the unrest taking place in our city has reminded me of the need for positive engagement and participation,” said Soma. “Queens is my home and now more than ever a diversified, independent bench, who can judge without bias or favor, is what is needed.”
