Speaker of Bangladesh Parliament visits Consulate General of Bangladesh in New York

UsaNewsOnline.Com, New York : Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury,MP, Speaker of Bangladesh Parliament visited the Consulate General of Bangladesh in New York on 16 October 2017. Mr. Md. Shameem Ahsan,ndc, Consul General and other Officers and Officials of the Mission welcomed her.
While interacting with the Mission officials, she highlighted on the policy priorities of the present Government specially about the consular and welfare issues of the expatriate community. The Speaker gave a patient hearing to the growing consular needs of the Bangladesh community especially within the jurisdiction of the Consulate General in New York. While commending the dedicated services of the Mission officials, she expressed hope that Bangladesh community will benefit from numerous initiatives of the Government, led by Honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, which are aimed at their overall welfare.
The Consul General briefly narrated the activities of the Mission and expressed Mission’s gratefulness for the continued support being received from the Government.
The Speaker later visited all the Sections of the Consulate and interacted with the Mission officials. She also enquired about the well-being of the Bangladesh nationals who were present at the Consulate in big numbers. Mr. Masud Bin Momen, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Bangladesh to UN and other senior officials were present.
It may be mentioned here that the Speaker is currently in USA in connection with important programmes.
