Table Tennis Tournament Hosted by Shoilie

UsaNewsOnline.Com Desk, New York : Shoilie Table Tennis & Cultural Center, a registered non-profit organization located in the Jamaica area, recently organized a table tennis tournament. The event was co-hosted by the Bangladeshi-American Society of Professionals (BSP), a professional non-profit organization working with young professionals and college students of the local Bengali community. More than 35 players participated in this friendly tournament. Md. Imrul Kayes won the championship title of the Men’s Open event, defeating Asif Iqbal Chowdhury in the intense final match. Saif Azad, Abdul Mukit, Mohd Sourov Alam, Zehedur Rahman, Mohammad Islam (Rumon) and Mark Lim are the winners of the other events. Trophies and medals were distributed to the winners at the presentation ceremony. The event was attended by Shahed Islam (CEO, SJ Innovation & President, The Optimists), Imtiaz Chowdhury (Senior Auditor, Federal Reserve Bank of New York & President, BSP), Md. Shumon Khan (President, BPL of USA), Sajid Hassan (Former Cricketer, Bangladesh National Team), Wacef Chowdhury (Analyst, Standard Chartered Bank) Adib Malek Chowdhury (Investment Banking Analyst, Macquarie Group) Tahmid Zawad (Executive Director, BDP), Syed Abdullah (Senior Product Owner, Verizon), Sultan Maruf (Community Activist), Omar Ahmed, Shamim Islam, Arifur Khan, Adnan Khan, Mohibul Hassan, Sarah Amin and Rumman Chowdhury.

It is to be noted that Shoilie attracted a significant amount of enthusiasm and interest within the community since its commencement in September 2019. Along with providing free table tennis coaching for children under 14 years, the club is actively organizing various cultural events. Recently, famous Bangladeshi singer Samina Chowdhury performed a solo concert at the club. Mokarram Ahmed is the Founder and President of Shoilie. He is also serving as the Head Coach of the club. Mr. Ahmed is highly positive about the response he’s getting from the community, and requests the parents to avail this unique opportunity of free table tennis coaching for their kids.
