The Alliance of South Asian American Labor-ASAAL Georgia Chapter, a first in the South and in a Red State!
UsaNewsOnline.Com, Georgia : The Alliance of South Asian American Labor (ASAAL), Georgia Chapter Executive Board for the year 2017-2018 were inaugurated on Sunday, November 12, 2017 at the Indian Grill, 2027 Beaver Ruin Road, Norcross, GA 30071.

Over 100 Georgians gathered in this auspicious occasion supported by National President Maf Misbah Uddin, National Secretary Karim Chowdhury, and National Corresponding Secretary Jed Matalon.
We were joined by the Hon. Dewey McClain, State Representative of Georgia General Assembly and President Atlanta North Georgia Labor Council, Hon. Sam Park, State Representative Georgia General Assembly, Charlie Flemming, President Georgia AFL-CIO, Richard Ray, President Emeritus, GA AFL-CIO and member of Democratic National Committee, our own Sheikh Rahman, Member Democratic National Committee (only Bangladeshi), Tony Patel, Chair Asian American and Pacific Islanders Caucus, Community leaders included Jamil Imran, Mohan Zabber, Ahmadur Rahman, Treasurer Asian American Heritage Foundation, and Raja Ghale, President Nepalese Association in South East America.

Also those who spoke at the installation ceremony are the candidates of 2018 elections including the Democratic Governor Candidate Stacey Abrams; Congressional Candidates – Steve Nailey, Ethan Pham, Nail Sardana, and Elisa Davis; State Court Judge Ronda Colvin-Leary, and many other State and City Council Candidates. Each candidate expressed their deepest appreciation to ASAAL for coming to the State of Georgia, a red State for decades with a Republican Governor, Republican State House, and a Right to Work State! They believe ASAAL Georgia can transform Red Georgia to a Blue State in the 2018 Mid-term election, 2020 Presidential election and beyond.
The National President Maf Misbah Uddin conducted the Oath of the office of the following 45 members Of the Georgia Chapter as below:

The Youth Committee will be headed by Saiful Hossain as Chair while Tofu Ahmed will be the co-Chair.
In his brief remarks, ASAAL Founder and National President Maf Misbah Uddin said, it is incumbent upon us to do all we can to help others. We must remember, “what we are suppose to do for our community, no body will do it for us”. “it is not what we achieved in life for us, it is what we all achieved together for all”, he added. He then said, “today in 2017 the ASAAL Georgia has staged one of the largest gatherings of 2018 candidates at their installation ceremony indicating that you, the ASAAL GA, are already being recognized as the South Asian Power house in GA, that is why we created ASAAL in the first place. Next year at this time we will know and see what good things this chapter has done for its great Georgian South Asian community.”

“ASAAL is the bridge between our community and mainstream politics, we are not Democrat, we are not Republican, we are South Asians, and we support those who supports us”, said ASAAL National Secretary Karim Chowdhury. “We request everyone to join ASAAL if you like to be part of American politics”, please join us at our 10th Annual Convention to be held on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at DC 37 Headquarters, 125 Barclay Street, New York, NY 10007, he added.
Newly elected President Mr. Ali Hossain said, “ASAAL is the only organization in America that South Asians should join and be part of, I’m honored that I joined, we joined, we are appealing all Georgians to join, we will do all we can to make ASAAL Georgia the best it can be among all ASAAL Chapters!
